"Every one of the staff top to bottom are entirely dedicated to each individual child" - Dominic's Dad
What is DHCDC?
We are a nonprofit private early childhood education center serving children from all backgrounds, incomes, and abilities - a wonderful 'melting pot' where everyone learns together, and from eachother. We opened our doors in 1971 and were the first center on the Peninsula to be accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), placing us in the top 7% of preschools in the country.
We serve over 200 children annually, ages 6 weeks to 5 years. Our families come from all over the Peninsula for our unique combination of quality and affordabilty. DHCDC offers the Peninsula's only sliding-scale tuition rate, open to the public and based on family income and need.
The average DHCDC parent pays a third of what it costs to educate their child. We rely on the support of our community for the other two-thirds. When communities actively demonstrate their commitment to the school readiness of their youngest citizens, they send out a powerful message: we are a region poised for success!
