Target Volunteer Day
July 16, 2008

An enthusiastic team of employees (plus two of their children) from Target of Hampton, Virginia, gave two hours of their time to clean up the DHCDC playgrounds. Thanks to their hard work and care, our indoor playgrounds are now a sparkling clean space for our smallest students. They also raked mulch and picked up litter from our larger, outdoor playgrounds.

Team Target: Madie, Dana, Jackie, Kim, Jenester, Linda, Erica, and two helpful kids.

C
leaning begins on the indoor playground, as volunteers
move out the toys and begin scrubbing everything down.

Removing several years of window grime!

This boy is a pro with the squeegee.

The ladies prove volunteering can be fun.

Madie makes the tumble mats shine
(and thankfully isn't afraid to get wet!)

These children give up a day of their summer vacation
to clean up equipment for the little kids
Many hands make light (but hot) work as our volunteers brave heat over 90 degrees.

Getting up those last little leaf bits and beginning to mop

Finally, a floor you can eat from . . .
as our infants frequently attempt!

The volunteers keep cool with bottled water and mint candy
gladly provided by DHCDC.

"This is one clean room!"
Team Target really made a difference for our children.
